Whilst we deal with the uncertainty of coronavirus and its long-term repercussions, we wanted to update you on the precautions we are taking and ways in which we are changing our business. We are closely monitoring the daily changing Government guidelines and following their instructions accordingly. We are still very much open for business and would like to assure you that the well-being and health of our customers and staff is always an absolute priority.
Cancellation of Events
As of now, all Wellbeing in the Wild events are still to run, with changes to be communicated as soon as we approach them, however we will have to postpone our interior design workshop ‘The Great Indoors’ which was set to take place on Saturday the 28th of March from 2-4.30pm. If you have purchased a ticket, someone will be in-touch as soon as possible to issue a refund.
New Services to Support Customers
We are currently working on a new café service where you will be able to order and pay over the phone, then collect your food in the car park from a member of staff. Similarly, we will be endeavouring to offer over the phone and online garden centre orders, either to be delivered to your house or collected in the car park.
New Opening Hours in the Café
In order to maintain an enhanced cleaning schedule and allow our team to leave the building on time, we will be closing Olive’s Café at 4:00 pm every day from now on.
Health Status of Employees
We are closely monitoring the health of our employees and any member of staff who presents any symptoms however mild will not be allowed to work, with their sick pay remuneration taking effect.
Health Status of our Customers
If you are not feeling great, we ask you to postpone your visit with us until you’re feeling better.
Card Payment Only
We will not be accepting cash payments as from today. The World Health Organisation said the British public should exercise care when handling potentially infectious banknotes. When asked whether banknotes could be spreading coronavirus, a WHO spokesman replied: “Yes it’s possible, we know that money changes hands frequently and can pick up all sorts of bacteria and viruses and things like that”.
We also urge our customers to be mindful of personal space as The World Health Organization says keeping at least one metre apart from someone who might be coughing or sneezing will help stop the coronavirus spreading. We have also spread out our tables in the café to allow greater distance between diners.
Hand Sanitiser on Arrival, Throughout and on Departure
You will see we have installed hand sanitiser at the entrance to the shop and café as well as by our till points, which we are asking our staff and customers to use upon arriving and regularly whilst on the premises and on departure.
Enhanced Cleaning & Hygiene Measures
We have increased our cleaning routines to ensure the areas around the café, shop and garden centre where there is greater customer usage, ie. inside and outside door handles, card machines, menus, chairs, tables, high chairs, taps, customer fridges/ freezers, sauce bottles etc. are all sanitised regularly throughout the day on top of our daily cleaning routines. Extra sanitising products have been brought in on top of our usual cleaning products to ensure safety. You will see notices up in our toilets to highlight the importance of hand washing, we have also installed disposable hand towels. Our toilets are thoroughly cleaned everyday by an outside cleaning company, they are also checked and sanitised throughout the day by staff on site. You will also see we have installed bins around the café and shop and we would ask all our customers to dispose of used tissues and napkins in the bins provided rather than leaving on tables.
Other Café Changes
We have removed our water jug from the bar. Water is of course still readily available, but our staff will serve it for you. Cutlery and napkins have also been removed from our cutlery stations and these will be given to you upon ordering food. We are asking customers to not bring in reusable cups until further notice.
This is not an easy time for anyone at the moment, it is a dynamic situation and will continue to evolve. We appreciate you co-operation at this time. For now, it is very much business as usual and as you know we are small, in a beautiful rural area where you can get good food and fresh air. Please continue to come and see us!
